In order to set up an urban transport network that meets the needs of the population, a Local Development Company has just been created to manage this public service.
It is now a done deal. Buses are back in the city of Khouribga, which will finally have an urban transport network that meets its needs. This long-awaited return comes after the failure of several experiments due, in particular, to carts and three-wheelers that still allow themselves to provide urban transport. To do this, a Local Development Company (SDL) had to be created to ensure the management of this public service.
According to the specifications, the company, hired for five years, will proceed with the launch of 40 buses spread over 6 lines covering the majority of the neighbourhoods for the start of the 2015-2016 school year. "The project has been included in a programme aimed at strengthening basic infrastructure and improving public services," explains Abdellatif Chadali, governor of the province of Khouribga. He specifies: "With the aim of guaranteeing the realisation of the project and avoiding the constraints and problems faced by previous experiments, we proceeded to the creation of an SDL. At the same time, the studies and administrative and technical procedures were entrusted to qualified establishments." The city of Khouribga, which has seen its urban and socio-economic infrastructure developed at several levels, really needed an organised public bus transport network. In the past, the city has seen several initiatives and experiments in this area, but unfortunately, none of the establishments involved was able to take up the challenge and carry out the mission successfully. As mentioned previously, the obstacle that arose related to the owners of carts and three-wheelers who provided transport for citizens in their own way.
With the development of the city and the creation of several university establishments, the implementation of a means of public transport has become an increasingly pressing necessity. It was therefore necessary to mobilise the authorities and raise awareness among local actors, in addition to the municipal council, in order to follow up on this request made by the inhabitants and students in particular.
