An immersion into nomadic life for a walking discovery in the Moroccan desert. An 8-day trek in a spectacular environment.
This hike around Tazzarine is a slow discovery on foot of the Moroccan desert. Ideal for a first discovery of the south of Morocco. In this region, the Sahara comes up against the foothills of the Atlas and it is through plains open to the south, small oases and dune massifs that this hike takes place. A caravan of camels carrying the luggage and equipment, you will go from bivouac to bivouac at a rate of 2 to 5 hours of walking per day.

Your day-by-day itinerary

Day 1
Ouarzazate
Meet in Ouarzazate
Meeting with our local assistance at your hotel in Ouarzazate. Check-in and overnight stay. Possible transfer from Marrakech with a supplement.
Dinner at your own leisure.
Overnight in Ouarzazate.
Day 2
Ouarzazate - Amrad
Departure for Amrad
In the morning, meet with your team, guide, cook, driver, and depart from Ouarzazate by minibus along the road that crosses the Jebel Saghro. From Agdz, you follow the ribbon of greenery of the Draa Valley oases. You reach Tazzarine in the early afternoon.
Picnic lunch in the shade of an acacia tree near the village of Amrad.
Meet with the camel team for the loading of the logistics and you begin the hike from the village of Amrad for a short walk.
3h30 of travel and approx. 1h30 of walking.
Night in a bivouac in the middle of the desert.
Day 3
Amrad - Oued Taghbalt
Oued Taghbalt
You go from village to village along the Taghbalt wadi: palm oases, gardens, shaded paths and fortified ksar. The landscapes are magnificent. Setting up the bivouac in the heart of the oasis, in its soothing coolness.
Approx. 5 hours of walking.
Night in a bivouac in the heart of the Oasis.
Day 4
Oued Taghbalt - Foum Tizza
Toubkal Plateau
Leaving the oasis of Taghbalt, you reach the desert plateau of Toukal. You hike along a sandy ridge before reaching the spectacular dune massif of Foum Tizza. Setting up tents in the hollows of the dunes.
Approx. 4 hours of walking.
Night in a tent in the heart of the dunes.
Day 5
Foum Tizza - Mchilou
Jbel Amgharfi
You cross the Foum Tizza gorge and make a short climb to reach the ridge of the Jebel Amgharfi, a massif very characteristic for its sand-filled canyons. At the summit, a panorama over the whole region of Tazzarine and the Jebel Saghro to the north-west. Descent towards the north in the direction of the ruined village of Mchilou.

Day 6
Mchilou - Isk n’Brahim
Direction Isk N’Brahim
Crossing the vast Saharan spaces and the lunar plateau, heading towards Isk N’Brahim, and its rocky peaks very rich in fossils. Bivouac in the shade of palm trees.
Approx. 5 hours of walking.
Night in a bivouac.
Day 7
Isk n’Brahim - Ouarzazate
Jebel Saghdrar
In the morning, final hike with a view of the blue peaks of the Djebel Saghdrar. You meet the vehicle near the village of Timganine and you return to Ouarzazate. On the way, you have lunch in a small restaurant. You arrive in Ouarzazate at the end of the day. Check-in and overnight at the hotel. Dinner at your own expense.
Approx. 2 hours of walking and 3 hours of travel.
Overnight in Ouarzazate.
Day 8
Ouarzazate
Breakfast at the hotel. Free time. Transfer to the airport.
Day 9

Tips and any extras
Good to know before you go
Equipement à prévoir pour la randonnée :
– Un petit sac à dos pour le transport de vos affaires personnelles durant la journée (appareil photo, crème solaire, lunette, argent, …)
– Un sac de voyage souple sera préférable à une valise (difficile à transporter à dos de dromadaire)
– Un chapeau de soleil ou casquette
– Une paire de lunettes de soleil d’excellente qualité
– Crème solaire et stick à lèvres
– T-shirts à manche courte et longue
– Une veste chaude pour les soirées
– Un pantalon ou pantacourt confortable, éviter les shorts courts par respect pour les habitants.
– Une paire de chaussures légères de marche tenant bien la cheville (semelle ferme, type Vibram)
– Une paire de sandales pour la marche dans le sable et le bivouac
– Une pharmacie de premiers secours est fournie et mise sous la responsabilité de votre accompagnateur. Pensez à apporter vos médicaments et traitements habituels


Encadrement :
Un guide de montagne diplômé et disposant d’un agrément délivré par le ministère du tourisme. Ils sait s’adapter aux marcheurs qu’il accompagne du débutant au randonneur expérimenté.
Il est assisté d’un cuisinier et d’un ou plusieurs chameliers en fonction de la taille du groupe.
