Khouribga is a mining town considered to be the most important phosphate production area in the world [citation needed]. The Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP), Morocco's leading public company, operates the mining area and partly manages the town's sports and social infrastructure. Furthermore, Khouribga is known for its cultural activities, such as its organisation of festivals and cultural and artistic days. Khouribga is also known for its sporting activities, which is manifested by the abundance of sports sections (football, tennis, rugby union, golf, swimming, handball, basketball, volleyball, karting, athletics...) most of these clubs are subject to the Olympique Club de Khouribga (OCK) and the Hassania de Khouribga (HUSK).
