Fourteen feature films and as many short films in the running

The films were selected by a Commission that had viewed 16 feature-length fiction films and 5 feature-length documentaries, produced since the last edition of the FNF.

Fourteen feature films and as many short films will be in the running during the 17th edition of the National Film Festival (FNF) scheduled from 26 February to 5 March, the Moroccan Cinematographic Centre (CCM) announced on Thursday.

According to a statement from the CCM, the selection of feature films includes notably "Midnight Orchestra" by Jérôme Olivar Cohen, "Satan's Tears" by Hicham El Jebbari, "The Sea is Behind" by Hicham Lasri, "Clay Men" by Mourad Boucif, "Petits bonheurs" by Mohamed Chrif Tribak, "La Isla de Perejil" by Ahmed Boulane, and "A Mile in My Shoes" by Said Khallaf.

In the same category, the selection committee also retained "Fidaa" by Driss Chouika, "Des Espoirs" by Mohamed Ismail, "Insoumise" by Jawad Rhalib, "La mélodie de la Morphine" by Hicham Amal, "The Green March" by Youssef Britel, in addition to the documentaries "Weight of the Shadow" by Hakim Belabbes and "Raja Bent El Mellah" by Abdelilah El Jaouhary.

These films were selected by a Commission consisting of Omar Belkhammar, representing the Moroccan Association of Film Critics, Fouad Souiba, representing the Union of Moroccan Directors-Authors, Daoud Aoulad Syad, representing the Moroccan Chamber of Film Producers, and Mohamed Abderrahman Tazi, President of the National Chamber of Film Producers.

The Commission had viewed 16 feature-length fiction films and 5 feature-length documentaries, produced since the last edition of the FNF.

Regarding the films competing in the "short film" category, the selection includes notably "White Handkerchiefs" by Farid Regragui, "Trung's Call" by Mohammed Hicham Regragui, "L'esclave du mâl(e)" by Mohcine Nadifi, "Whispers of Venus" by Ghizlane Assif, "Connection" by Nadia Ghalia Lamhaidi, "The Death of Life" by Madane El Ghazouani, "The Signature" by Sanae Mesbahi and Jamal Garando.

It also includes "Aya Goes to the Beach" by Maryam Touzani, "Project T" by Khalid Douache, "The Man with the Dog" by Kamal Lazraq, "Would Jamaa El Fna" by Ali Ben Chekroune, "Obsession" by Hanane Ouarda, "Mirage" by Hamza Oujamaa, and "Tikchbila Tiwliwla" by Youssef Laalioui.

These films were selected by a commission composed of directors Driss Mrini and Hamid Faridi, critic Mohamed Belfqih, and CCM representative Tariq Khalami. This commission had viewed 62 short films.
