Palm trees in danger
Some species of palm trees have perished, others are sick, and the most robust are resisting the vagaries of time as best they can.
One of the essential components of the seaside resort is undoubtedly its numerous palm trees, the variety of which constitutes a wealth with multiple functions, necessary for the balanced development of the city.However, Mohammedia is experiencing ecological difficulties linked to the threats weighing on the natural environment, which requires a new approach for the protection of palm trees, trees, and green spaces. "The palm trees, about 15,000 in Mohammedia, are an invaluable wealth, particularly for their multiple functions. Alas, some are sick, others have perished, and a portion of those that were moved for the realisation of real estate projects has suffered the same fate in indifference," confides an official at the urban commune.
