Shopping euphoria takes over the City of Flowers

Shopping euphoria takes over the City of Flowers

As Eid al-Fitr approaches, which this year coincides with the summer season and holidays, the city of Mohammedia is experiencing a special atmosphere characterised by a shopping frenzy.

Many signs announce the approach of Eid al-Fitr: the preparation of the M’çalla, and mosques are illuminated to welcome thousands of worshippers. The seaside city, lulled by Ramadan activities, is buzzing with excitement; shops specialising in the sale of children's clothing and traditional garments are very popular. It is an opportunity for many merchants in various fields to offer deals to attract more customers.

Prices vary according to the clothes chosen, and the proliferation of clothing stores allows parents to make their choices and find good deals. For one mother, children's clothes are available and increasingly affordable; one can easily find items at reasonable prices. I prefer, stresses a father of 5 children, to do my shopping several days before the Eid to avoid any surprises. It is difficult to continue buying designer brand clothes. Eid al-Fitr indeed coincides with the summer season and holidays, forcing us to fall back on cheaper shops, especially those offering sales.

Despite the increasingly significant prices and expenses, families cannot deprive themselves of buying clothes for their children. The latter await this holiday with impatience. To please their children, some households resort to credit so as not to deprive them of new clothes.

While some families settle their problems through credit, others cannot manage, accumulating the costs of Ramadan, the Eid, and the holidays. Many families make sacrifices to please their children. Eid al-Fitr is an important holiday; it is a tradition firmly rooted in habits. The city of Mohammedia is lively; it is experiencing special moments and is preparing to welcome Eid al-Fitr under the same conditions.
