The Local Governance Observatory challenges the Mayor of Sale

The Local Governance Observatory (OGL) of Sale has just organised a round table, marked in particular by the participation of the city's mayor, Noureddine Lazrak.

Speaking on this occasion, Mohammed Sikouk, president of the observatory, stressed that the organisation of this meeting was a contribution to the implementation of the constitutional provisions relating to strengthening the role of civil society in monitoring and supporting the actions undertaken by elected councils.

For his part, Noureddine Lazrak, while welcoming the creation of the OGL, which he considered an added value to the city's associative fabric, defended the work of his team at the Sale town hall. For him, even if not everyone is satisfied, the record is generally positive given the constraints to be managed on a daily basis.

To meet the challenges of local management, he stated that the city council has adopted an approach based on diagnosing dysfunctions before proposing solutions to the problems raised. Likewise, he wished to recall that the decisions taken will only be able to bear fruit several years later. For his part, the academic and associative actor Abdelkader Dinia highlighted some dysfunctions that have marked the management of local affairs. According to him, the development plans drawn up have been unable to keep pace with the demographic and urban development of the city and thus meet the growing needs of the inhabitants.

For his side, Lahcen Bahdi, an associative actor, believes that the elected councils have wasted a lot of time and money without managing to initiate wealth-generating projects. He criticised the majority within the elected bodies for having marginalised the opposition and for having resorted to heterogeneous alliances to the detriment of effectiveness and efficiency in local management, particularly for local projects.
