For its 12th edition, the 2013 World Barbecue Championship will take place in Morocco. From 24 to 26 May, no fewer than sixty teams representing the five continents will come to compete for the world champion prize in the city of Saïdia. For the first time since the creation of this event of global scale, the participants in this competition will come in a barbecue convoy to the world and will depart from Lyon to then make stops in Barcelona and Almeria. "This convoy will serve as a real engine for promoting the Morocco destination," notes Younes Foudil, president of the World Barbecue Association. Enthusiastic, Rolf Zubler, founder of the association and also a world champion, specifies: "We will serve barbecue in a friendly, jovial, and convivial atmosphere". 200 jurors will be there to evaluate the five dishes required of the participants and the winner will be awarded a prize of 50,000 euros. During the three days, animation shows and music concerts will be planned with the participation of the young percussionist group Bramelz, the Maâllem Gnaoui Hassan Boussou, and as a closing show, the group that initiated the Moroccan chaâbi groove, Mazagan. It should also be noted that, in view of a partnership with the "Goldwing Club Maroc" association, donations will be collected for the benefit of orphans in the region. To start the summer season well, therefore, in Saïdia you will be spoilt for choice with the "Choua"!
