In order to generalise access to schooling for the children of Moulay Yacoub, a predominantly rural province, several projects for the construction of schools have been launched there in recent years.

Result: seven new schools will be created at the start of the 2013/2014 school year in the province. These are two qualifying high schools in the communes of Ain Chkef and Laâjajara, four middle schools in the communes of Sidi Daoud, Mekkes, Ain Bouali, and Ouled Mimoun, in addition to a primary school in Ain Kansara. These works to extend the educational offer in Moulay Yacoub will thus increase the total number of schools in the province to 73 at the start of the next school year, compared to 59 in 2009.

For Mohammed Mejait, delegate of the Ministry of National Education in Moulay Yacoub, these efforts will make it possible to increase the reception capacity of schools and ensure the coverage of all communes in the province by middle schools. "Apart from improving schooling indicators and the quality of learning, the extension of the educational offer in the province will give students of the middle secondary level the possibility to complete their schooling without having to travel," he explained recently during the prize-giving ceremony for the most deserving students in the province. Mr. Mejait did not fail to underline on this occasion the importance of the measures taken within the framework of social support to ensure equal and equitable access for the children of Moulay Yacoub to schooling. "It should be noted that this area is of capital importance given the almost rural nature of the Moulay Yacoub province. Indeed, through the implementation of adequate transport means, the distribution of school uniforms for needy students, the granting of school bags, and the implementation of financial support ("Tayssir" programme) ensuring an income for families to cover expenses related to schooling, we have succeeded in achieving satisfactory results, particularly in the fight against the phenomenon of school dropout," he specified.
