Installation of new authority agents

Installation of new authority agents

The authority agents assigned to the Fès prefecture, following the latest transfer movement carried out by the Ministry of the Interior, were installed in their functions last Thursday.

The new assignments concerned the Al Massira administrative annex in Zouagha-Bensouda, the Al Adarissa administrative annex in the Agdal urban zone, the Al Quaraouiyine administrative annex in Fès-Médina, and the Fès prefecture. Speaking on this occasion, the Wali of the Fès-Meknès region, Governor of the Fès prefecture, Saïd Zniber, indicated that this annual transfer movement is part of the dynamic adopted by the Ministry of the Interior aimed at breathing new life into the territorial administration and allowing authority agents to enrich their professional experiences across the various regions and provinces of Morocco and to qualify them to assume positions of responsibility.

Recalling the missions devolved to authority agents, Mr. Zniber stressed the need to give priority to the social domain and to the support and upgrading of the economic sector within the framework of a global approach aimed at achieving sustainable development. He also called on the new officials to implement the provisions of the new Constitution through the rooting of public freedoms, the guarantee of citizens' rights, the strengthening of local democracy, and the consolidation of good governance. The Wali also called on the new territorial officials to translate into reality the new concept of authority, advocated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, based on the support of the rule of law, the protection of public services, the maintenance of public order, the preservation of the security of citizens, and the protection of their property. Mr. Zniber also insisted on coordination between public services, the rooting of the culture of proximity administration, the accompaniment of social actions, and the protection of the environment, noting that these projects require continuous action, dialogue, presence on the ground, and cooperation with elected officials, civil society, and public services.

Focusing on the files that are of crucial importance at the local level, namely the urban planning sector, the upgrading of basic infrastructure, and the revival of economic and cultural activity, the Wali stressed the imperative to fight against all forms that tarnish the urban landscape of the city, including shanty towns and anarchic housing. He also urged the new territorial officials to demonstrate probity, objectivity, integrity, and impartiality, to be on the ground, and to adopt proactive actions while respecting the principles of the rule of law. The Wali of the Fès-Meknès region did not fail to recall on this occasion the importance of the National Initiative for Human Development, as an approach to managing local affairs based on the diagnosis of citizens' needs, the programming of projects according to priorities, the participation of civil society, and the execution of projects through good governance. This ceremony took place notably in the presence of elected officials, heads of external services, civil society, and other personalities.
