Spanish reports indicated that the government of Pedro Sanchez has allocated 2.6 million euros for the rehabilitation of the "Spanish Hospital" in the city of Tangier.
The same reports noted that this project, currently managed in cooperation with the Moroccan authorities, dates back to 1939, when Juan Luis Beigbeder, the then High Commissioner of Spain in Morocco, commissioned the engineer José Ochoa y Benjumea to design this medical complex.
In an article published in the Spanish Public Works Magazine (Revista de Obras Públicas) in 1942, engineer y Benjumea recounts that the project's study began in 1939, when Tangier was still an international city under multinational administration.
