Tangier – The Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Detainees organised, today Thursday at the Ziaten covered hall in Tangier, a Ramadan iftar ceremony for the benefit of children of detainees, former detainees, and members of their families.
This initiative, organised in partnership with the “Yallah Nt3awnou for the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region” association, aims to provide a positive environment during the holy month of Ramadan for the families of detainees and former detainees, and to strengthen social ties.
The initiative, which carried the slogan “Joy of Ramadan for our children, a new hope for a better life”, also aims to boost the morale of former detainees, encourage their children, and strengthen the values of solidarity and mutual aid and achieve social integration.
This event, which targeted about 200 children and their families from the users of the Tangier Accompaniment and Reintegration Centre, focused on organising a collective iftar, distributing Eid clothes to children and their mothers, circumcising 7 children, and organising recreational workshops for the benefit of the children.
Among the strong moments during the ceremony was the organisation of a henna party for the girls, and the announcement of granting a trip to perform the Umrah rituals in the Holy Lands for the benefit of two former inmates, in an initiative that aims to consolidate the values of mutual aid and strengthen the reintegration of this category of citizens into society.
In a speech on this occasion, the regional coordinator of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Detainees in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Mohamed El Mkadmi, paused at the importance of this initiative in safeguarding the future of the beneficiary children, pausing at “the Foundation's will to build bridges of hope with the aim of helping children overcome the challenges that could confront them in the future”.
He said that “today we are not only sharing this meal, but also a series of activities aimed at strengthening the ability to create among children”, adding that the Foundation pays special attention to the women and children of detainees and former detainees by enabling them with the necessary tools to build their lives far from isolation and social stigma.
Mr. El Mkadmi added, in a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP) agency, that about 80 women benefited from this initiative, recalling the Foundation's commitment to providing support and psychological and social accompaniment for the benefit of the women and children of detainees.
He concluded that this initiative constitutes “a new stage” in the process of positive reintegration of this segment of society, renewing the confirmation of the Foundation's commitment to contributing to building a more solidary and integrated future for their benefit.
