Tangier – The Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Detainees organised, on Thursday, a Ramadan iftar for the benefit of children of detainees, former detainees, and their families at the Ziaten covered hall in Tangier.
Initiated in partnership with the “Yallah Nt3awnou” association of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, this event aims to offer a moment of conviviality and sharing, to strengthen family ties, and to create a warm and benevolent framework to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.
Placed under the sign “Joy of Ramadan for our children: a new hope for a better life”, this initiative made it possible to welcome more than 200 children and their families for a collective iftar, accompanied by an operation to distribute clothes for Eid al-Fitr. The evening was punctuated by various recreational and interactive activities intended for the young participants.
Among the highlights of the event were a henna session and a concert of religious songs. Furthermore, two former detainees benefited from an initiative allowing them to perform the Umrah, thus marking a symbolic step in their reintegration.
Speaking on this occasion, the regional coordinator of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Detainees in Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Mohamed El Mkadmi, stressed the importance of this initiative for the future of the beneficiary children, highlighting the Foundation's desire to “build bridges of hope in order to help them overcome the challenges they might face”.
“Today, we are not only sharing a meal, but also activities that aim to strengthen the children's capacities and creativity”, he affirmed, adding that the Foundation pays particular attention to women and children by providing them with “the necessary tools to rebuild their lives, far from isolation and social stigmatisation”.
In a statement to the MAP, Mr. El Mkadmi specified that 81 mothers benefited from this initiative, recalling the Foundation's commitment to providing “psychological and social accompaniment to women and children of detainees”.
In conclusion, the regional coordinator of the Foundation stressed that this action marks “a new step in the positive reintegration of this category of society”, thus reaffirming the Foundation's commitment to a more inclusive and solidary future.
