Elements of the Tangier Police Prefecture arrested three Chinese citizens on Saturday for their alleged involvement in a case related to the breach of automated digital data processing systems and telephone call hacking, according to a security source.
The three suspects were arrested in the rural area of Gzenaya, in the vicinity of Tangier, in the act of hacking national telecommunications networks through the use of electronic equipment in order to divert international telephone calls to the local network and generate revenue through tariff differentiation, the same source indicated.
Searches carried out inside a house occupied by the suspects led to the seizure of a set of desktop and laptop computers, a significant number of SIM cards, as well as electronic and computer equipment used in these criminal activities.
The suspects have been placed at the disposal of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor's Office, in order to shed light on all the circumstances surrounding this case and define all the criminal acts of which they are accused.
