After Casablanca, Rabat, Fès, Marrakech, Agadir and Oujda, the city of Tangier hosted, on 18 and 19 March, the seventh National Congress of Medical Oncology 2016. Spread over two days rich in sessions and conferences, this event was organised at the initiative of the Moroccan Association for Research and Training in Medical Oncology (Amfrom). An unmissable event for cancer specialists, it brought together national and international experts who came to learn about recent scientific progress in the diagnosis and treatment of cancerous diseases, as well as to exchange their points of view. Thus, nearly 300 participants took part in this edition.
"Our congress covers all facets of cancer: epidemiological, diagnostic, therapeutic and socio-economic. The scientific programme thus offered several conferences on recent themes, led by experts and followed by rich debates," stressed Prof. Habib Errihani, director of the national diploma in medical oncology and president of Amfrom. He added: "In parallel, the third version of the Guide to Therapeutic Protocols in Oncology was published and distributed in partnership with the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, as a supplement to the Moroccan Bulletin of Oncology, the official journal of Amfrom." This year, the congress was held in partnership with several bodies and learned societies around several themes: clinical research in the Maghreb, the first session on oncogeriatrics, a conference on the launch of the first Moroccan group for thrombosis and cancer, a session on news in lung cancer, among others.
