Organised by the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Tangier-Tetouan, the Higher International Institute of Tourism (ISIT) of Tangier and the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI) in Spain, the work of this event will take place, according to the organisers, in the presence of high-level international speakers and lecturers as well as renowned actors of the tourism industry from different Mediterranean countries.

Its main objective is the exchange of experiences and good practices between companies and institutions in the tourism sector of the Mediterranean basin. "This day constitutes the prelude to the holding of the first Mediterranean Tourism Fair, scheduled for 2015", stress the officials within the CRT of Tangier-Tetouan.

The work of this event will be marked by the ceremony of awarding the Mediterranean "Ibn Battouta" prize to two organisations that have carried out a joint project in the Mediterranean basin. This day also provides for other activities, including the first round table on sustainable tourism which "consists quite simply of applying the principles of sustainable development to all forms of tourism. It is therefore a question of ensuring socio-cultural and ecological balances while of course promoting the economic development of tourist destinations and companies", according to the organisers.

The latter want, through the second round table, to highlight tourist activity, which constitutes a first-rate economic resource for the countries around the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean basin alone concentrates a third of world tourism. This activity employs some 3 million people there.

The third round table will deal with public-private partnership, especially since the sector cannot continue its development without public support. While the fourth and final round table will focus on "Governance and tourism innovation". "The term governance established itself during the 90s as the symbol of a new modernity in public action modes".
