The film "The Hen" by Croatian director Una Gunjak won the Grand Prix of the 12th edition of the Tangier Mediterranean Short Film Festival (FCMMT), awarded Saturday evening during the closing ceremony of this event organized under the High Patronage of H.M. King Mohammed VI.

The film tells in 15 minutes the story of Salma who receives a live chicken as a gift for her 6th birthday. When she realizes that the animal is going to be killed to feed the family, she decides to set it free, without worrying about the seriousness of such a decision. The Spanish film "La Gallina" by Manuel Raga, for its part, received the Jury Prize, while the Directing Prize went to the Serbian film "Path in a Rye Field" by Goran Stankovic. The best screenplay prize rewarded the Turkish film "Eight Months" by director Huseyin Aydin Gursoy, while Moroccan actor Younes Tazairt won the prize for best male performance for his performance in the film "Qanis". The prize for best female performance went to Greek actress Myrto Papoulia for her role in the film "On the Threshold". The "Youth Prize", outside the official competition, awarded to young students from film schools, was attributed to the film "Troubled Water" by Lebanese director Toufic Khreich.

The special mention of the jury for this edition went to the Moroccan film "And Me" by director El Houssain Chani.

The jury of this 12th edition, chaired by Moroccan director Mohamed Mouftakir, included filmmakers Darina Al Joundi (Lebanon) and Hamid Farjad (Iran), Moroccan director Jillali Ferhati, as well as director of photography Luca Coassin (Italy), and chief editor Julien Fouré (France), in addition to Moroccan producer Lamia Chraibi. Participants in the 12th Tangier Mediterranean Short Film Festival benefited, as part of the festival's parallel activities, from a "Master Class" film lesson. Led by jury president Mohamed Mouftakir, this meeting was an opportunity for the Moroccan filmmaker to discuss his cinematographic experience, particularly in short films. The festival also dedicated a session to school films with the participation of young talents representing five film schools, namely IHB Art and Media of Casablanca, and the Higher School of Visual Arts of Marrakech (ESAVM).
