This event, organised by the French Institute of Morocco as part of its cultural season, in partnership with the Tangier Regional Cultural Action Association (ATRAC), will provide a platform for reflection on the digital era that marks the new millennium and its consequences on life and culture in Morocco and the world.

The debates and conferences, which will see the participation of internationally renowned intellectuals and writers, will be organised around three axes, namely the impact of technological evolution on industry, education, research, and heritage; the impact of these technologies on culture and intellectual exchanges; and artistic renewal linked to new technologies.

Speaking on Monday evening during a press conference for the presentation of this edition, the director of the French Institute of Morocco, Bertrand Commelin, emphasised the partnership logic implemented for the realisation of this event by involving a large number of public and private actors concerned with the promotion of culture and reading in the Northern region.

This edition benefits from the creation, since 1 January, of the French Institute of Morocco, an identity bringing together the entire network of French cultural establishments in Morocco and allowing the pooling of the resources of this network to ensure quality programming, he added.

For his part, the director of the French Institute of the North and director of the Fair, Alexandre Pajon, noted that this edition will take place with the participation of local cultural and educational actors, notably the Abdelmalek Essaâdi University, the Regional Academy of Education and Training, and the delegation of the Ministry of Culture, in order to ensure greater integration of the event into the city's cultural landscape.

In addition to the Palace of Italian Institutions (formerly the Moulay Abdelhafid Palace), the true heart of the fair which will host several dozen exhibitors to represent the editorial news of Morocco, France, and other countries, the Delacroix Gallery, the Beckett Room, and the Tangier Cinematheque will be resonance venues for this event in the city, in addition to other activities in Tetouan and Larache.

The 2012 edition of the fair will be marked by a novelty, namely a "Thousand and One Readings" fair which will host readers and authors uninterruptedly for four days to share the pleasure of literature in all languages with children and adults.

Furthermore, the "Pleasure of Reading" school competition will be offered for the fourth consecutive year to middle and high school students from the entire Northern region, with the commitment of the Regional Academy of Education and Training.
