Ayoub Lguirati and Lina Belmati shine at the Mohammedia Grand Prix

The Royal Golf of Mohammedia hosted, from 26 to 28 February, the first event of the World Amateur Golf Ranking, a tournament reserved for amateurs with a handicap equal to or less than 5.4 for men and 8.4 for women. Moroccan golfers Ayoub Lguirati and Lina Belmati distinguished themselves by winning the event.

The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation organised the first event under the World Amateur Golf Ranking, a tournament reserved for amateurs with a handicap equal to or less than 5.4 for men and 8.4 for women, at the Royal Golf of Mohammedia from 26 to 28 February 2016. Moroccan amateur golfers Ayoub Lguirati and Lina Belmati were the big winners of this first edition of the Mohammedia Grand Prix. Among the men, Lguirati (member of the Royal Golf of Agadir) finished at the top of the three rounds with a score of 222 strokes (75-77-71) ahead of Karim El Hali (75-78-71, 224 strokes) and Yacine Touhami (70-83-71, 224 strokes), both from the Excellence centre and tied for 2nd place. Lina Belmati, who plays at the Royal Golf Dar Essalam (RGDES) in Rabat, dominated the women's ranking with a score of 246 strokes, followed by Kabbouri Sanaa (RGDES) who returned a card of 258 strokes.

The French Vidal Claire from the Golf of Mogador completed the podium (259 strokes). In parallel, the FRMG also organised an event reserved for Mid Amateurs (5.5 to 11.4 for men and 8.5 to 14.4 for women): the Royal Golf Anfa-Mohammedia Grand Prix. Contested over two rounds, the RGAM Trophy was won by two members of the organising club: Frédéric Savery - net category (157 strokes) and Amine El Kherraz - gross category (171 strokes).
