Crans Montana Forum meeting in Dakhla

Crans Montana Forum meeting in Dakhla

The annual session of the Crans Montana Forum (CMF), scheduled for next March in Dakhla, "will offer for discussion the example of a specific model of development and integration" in Africa, according to the CMF.

"Dakhla and its elected local representatives will be closely associated with the organisation" of this event dedicated to Africa and South-South cooperation, emphasises the prestigious organisation based in Geneva.

In an interpretation of the scope of its Dakhla session (12-14 March) published on its website, the CMF states that all political leaders from Africa and the rest of the world will surely welcome this initiative.

It explained that the event "tends to highlight a lesser-known region and thus help in the development of local populations".

In the opinion of the organisers, "it is a matter of coming, seeing, meeting interlocutors, talking, exchanging, confronting ideas and working towards a better world if possible: no man or woman of good faith can refuse such an invitation".

The Crans Montana Forum recalls that for more than thirty years, it has been working to find men and women of goodwill, objectively eager to improve the situation of a world constantly under threat and to work for peace in harmony and progress.

"Youth clearly rejects the past actions of generations that have only maintained failure and whose anachronism of ideas sustains rear-guard battles with no hope or future. This is valid for the entire planet," it continues.

In this perspective, the organisers believe that "windows must definitely open to let in fresh air. Physical or intellectual borders no longer make sense in the Internet age".

In Africa, they note, "the only concerns of the youth are now food, health, work, development and peace".

"On the international and regional level, it is no longer just about tolerance but about a pure and simple acceptance of the other, of their aspirations and their differences," notes the CMF.

For the coming years, the Forum will continue to deploy its efforts in this direction and act where others, often out of convenience, do not even think of going, it is indicated, stressing that "in its wake, men and women of peace will be there as they have been for so long".

"The world will identify them as the actors of the future, because the CMF has always been a totally open forum and anyone, in good faith, who wishes to express their positions while respecting those of others has always been welcome at the Forum," the same source adds.

The annual Dakhla session will be devoted to dialogue, the exchange of ideas and experiences, but above all to the social and economic progress of African populations who aspire to global integration, development and peace.

"No one could seriously claim to confine these men and women away from a world in full change," according to the organisers.

They note that the support already provided to this initiative by numerous personalities and organisations is an encouragement for the Crans Montana Forum Initiative.

By choosing Dakhla, the Forum has set itself the goal of contributing, while respecting local culture, to the political, economic and social progress of the population, to the development of its capacity to face the challenges of globalisation and to the strengthening of international peace and security.

It also wishes to "contribute to the training and involvement of local elites in the democratic governance of their region, which alone can allow for economic and social growth that meets the expectations of the populations".
