Dakhla is located 650 km south of Laâyoune, on a narrow peninsula, the Rio de Oro peninsula, which extends for about 40 km parallel to the Atlantic coast, in a north-east to south-west direction.

The town is situated about thirty kilometres north of the Tropic of Cancer, just like Havana, Canton or Hawaii.

It is one of the last towns before Mauritania.

Dakhla Airport is connected to the Mohammed V International Airport - Nouasser in Casablanca three times a week and from other Moroccan and foreign cities.

Dakhla is a stopover town for all travellers heading to sub-Saharan Africa.
