Enough is enough. It is a fed-up feeling that the teachers of the “Zainab Nafzaouiya” qualifying high school in the Sidi Bernoussi delegation of the Greater Casablanca region wanted to express when they organised a protest sit-in on 14 May in front of the school. In doing so, they are denouncing the actions of the school's officials towards both the teaching staff and the students. One of them was even the subject of a formal reprimand on 16 March by a member of the administration.
This unhealthy environment imbued with violence, far from the pedagogical teachings that the school should reflect, is harshly denounced by the teachers in a statement issued for the occasion. Their list of demands is very long. The actions of the administration exceed, in their view, all limits. Thus, it even goes so far as to send fallacious administrative reports to the delegation's services, far from reflecting the real situation that the school is experiencing. As for pedagogical activities, they are hardly appreciated, according to the statement. The administration does not find them to its taste and rejects them outright, whether they are organised by teachers, clubs or even the parents' association. Yet all these activities compensate for the absence of certain compulsory subjects that are not taught. This concerns, in particular, physical education and computer science, which students have been deprived of for 3 years already. Furthermore, the teachers denounce the lack of security and means to enable them to carry out their mission. Demands that should be taken into consideration, especially since it is notably the scientific laboratories that are sorely lacking in any equipment to carry out practical work. A neglect that does not date from today since this equipment has never existed since the creation of the establishment, as the teachers still assert. Worse, instead of encouraging the remedial classes given by the teachers, the administrative officials try by all means to prevent them by setting up all kinds of obstacles. For this, they do not hesitate to discredit the teachers in the eyes of the students. This is why the statement even speaks of a characterised provocation towards the teaching staff. Actions that turn into harassment. Violation of professional secrecy, flouting of the Charter of Good Conduct, abuse of power, favouritism towards certain people, transgressions more condemnable than the others. And it is the students who find themselves at the heart of the turmoil and who unfortunately pay the price.
Obviously, the teachers did not remain with their arms crossed. This alarming situation due to anarchic management has sparked a lively reaction from them. They have thus sounded the alarm by calling on the officials of the national education delegation, urging them to intervene as soon as possible in order to deal with the most urgent matters.
