No shortage during Ramadan

The economic and social division of the Sidi Bennour prefecture ensures that it has taken the necessary measures so that shops and markets are sufficiently supplied.
No shortage during Ramadan

All necessary measures and provisions have been taken to ensure the supply of the El Jadida prefecture market in sufficient quantities. Foodstuffs and widely consumed products are well on the stalls during the holy month of Ramadan, indicates the economic and social division of the Sidi Bennour prefecture in a report on the market situation in anticipation of Ramadan. The latter specifies that thanks to the measures taken in coordination with the various services concerned, the stocks available at the level of shops and various distribution circuits sufficiently cover the market's needs, particularly regarding foodstuffs for which demand increases in this holy month, such as pulses, flour, milk, meat, and fruits and vegetables. The Tlat Souk has a significant stock of wheat and pulses, notably the most consumed foodstuffs in this holy month, namely lentils and chickpeas, the price of which remains normal. As for flour, the prefecture's market is experiencing a largely sufficient supply, provided by wholesalers. The needs of the local market will also be satisfied in fruits and vegetables and in foodstuffs of animal origin, such as butter, eggs, and meat, the prices of which are stable during this month, specifies the same source. Regarding milk, which constitutes a widely consumed product during the holy month, all necessary provisions have been taken by the two production units located in the Doukkala to ensure the normal supply of the market. The report of the economic and social division also mentions the various actions undertaken throughout the year, in coordination with the services concerned, and aimed at preserving the rights and interests of consumers, price control, and the fight against any form of speculation.

Several local businesses operating in the field of catering, food retail stores, and distribution units, notably for hardware and clothing items, household appliances, cosmetics, stationery, in addition to pastry shops, bakeries, and butcher shops, were checked during the past year. Regarding the provisions taken on the eve of the month of Ramadan, the report mentions in particular the launch of an important awareness campaign among merchants in the city of Sidi Bennour, in addition to the multiplication of the activities of price control and anti-speculation commissions and the establishment, at the province headquarters, of a permanent office, which is at the disposal of citizens seven days a week to allow them to report any potential infraction or any act of speculation at the prefecture level.

The control commission multiplies inspections

The joint provincial commission, composed of representatives of various sectors such as health, municipal hygiene, fraud repression, provincial district security, and firefighters, continues its surprise control outings since the beginning of Ramadan, adds the same source. Nearly thirty reports have thus been drawn up, notably for failure to display prices and also following the taking of samples of food products. The commission, which has multiplied its outings since the beginning of the summer season last June, intends to continue this pace in order, it is assured, to protect citizens against any unjustified price increase and especially against any product that could harm their health.
