The 24th edition of the Gharnati Music Festival from 9 to 12 July

The city of Oujda is hosting, from 9 to 12 July, the twenty-fourth edition of the Gharnati Music Festival under the theme "Faithful to the leading figures of Gharnati music". Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this cultural event aims to consolidate the place of Gharnati heritage, highlight the leading figures of this musical genre, consecrate the plural character of Moroccan culture, and contribute to the preservation of this authentic cultural and artistic heritage, according to a statement from the regional directorate of culture.

This event, organised by the Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Wilaya of the Oriental region, the Oriental Agency, the Regional Council, the urban commune of Oujda, and other partners, also aims to contribute to the cultural and artistic influence of the city of Oujda, make its cultural richness and its pioneering role in the preservation of this ancestral music known, build bridges of dialogue, and strengthen ties with the public and lovers of this musical genre. On the menu for this event are, in particular, Gharnati music evenings with the participation of local, national, and international troupes, a scientific colloquium on "Andalusian art, a Maghrebian intangible heritage", and musical competitions for children aged 10 to 15.
