A new rail link connecting the province of Khouribga to several Moroccan cities, via Casablanca, was launched on Saturday as part of the summer holiday programme that the National Office of Railways (ONCF) implemented for the year 2013.
This new link, the inauguration ceremony of which was presided over on Saturday by the governor of the province of Khouribga, Abdelatif Chadali, will ensure better travel conditions, thanks to highly equipped carriages. It will meet the comfort and safety requirements of travellers, both in first and second class.
The inauguration of this new line is part of the measures implemented by the ONCF in recent years, with the aim of satisfying the growing needs of travellers, particularly at the beginning of each summer season, the month of Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr.
The ONCF assures that other rail connections will be put into service between Fez and Casablanca, Tangier and Oujda, Casablanca and Marrakech, in addition to a line between the port of Tanger Med and the city of Tangier to facilitate the transit of Moroccans residing abroad and that of foreign tourists. The Office has mobilised all the human resources necessary to ensure the smooth running of rail traffic during the summer season and to ensure the success of its programme adopted for the summer holidays, in order to reduce train congestion and regularise their schedules.
