From 7 to 12 November, young Moroccans passionate about the 7th Art took part in workshops on film professions, initiated on the occasion of the eleventh edition of the Festival of Cinema of the Peoples, which concluded last Sunday at the Imouzzer Kander Cultural Complex.
The event, initiated by Cinéclub Imouzzer in partnership with the Franco-Quebec Association Off Courts Trouville, allowed all participants not only to approach the different stages necessary for the making of a film (scriptwriting, filming, and editing), but also to get hands-on experience and fully dedicate themselves to the realisation of their dreams through the creation of their own short films, under the expert eye of a seasoned team. The latter consisted of seven French and one Canadian, all volunteers and members of the Off Courts Trouville Association, in addition to the delightful Majida Benkirane and the talented Farid Regragui. They came to camp in Imouzzer armed with their experience and equipped with all the necessary material for film production. Their goal is to be at the service of these young people and to guide them. "We are setting up groups here in Imouzzer so that they can combine the supervision of workshops, which we call laboratories, to make short films, and the supervision of young filmmakers to enable them to make films," highlights Samuel Prat, representative of the Off Courts Association. Each supervisor is a specialist in their field to be able to accompany the young people in the different stages of production, ranging from scriptwriting and film production to acting, filming, or even sound techniques. "We brought equipment, and we aim to have between five and fifteen films, because several projects have been proposed to me; we are trying to carry them out. But cinema is always an adventure; you never know when you start and the time needed to finish," confided Samuel Prat.
It should be remembered that Off Courts is a cultural association. Its headquarters are in France and its vocation is to organise a short film festival and to develop, throughout the year, cinematographic activities, in addition to setting up laboratories and workshops in several countries, with the aim of mentoring the youngest.
