This weekend, the OCE holiday centre in Immouzer-Kandar will host the proceedings of the constituent and statutory general assembly of the Moroccan Association for Family Tourism, whose mission is to contribute to the development of family tourism and make it one of the factors that will contribute to sustainable development.
The idea of creating this Association was born from the conviction of its founding members regarding the undesirable effects associated with tourism in general and family tourism in particular, which lead to the deterioration of the ecological and socio-economic characteristics of tourist host areas. Thus, they intend to contribute to the development of family tourism and provide added value for disadvantaged regions with tourist potential, through the association's project under the slogan "Let's act for citizen tourism".
According to the founders, citizen tourism generally combines all forms of alternative tourism that respect, preserve, and highlight the heritage resources of a territory for the benefit of tourists, in a way that minimises the negative impacts they could generate. It is noted, moreover, that family tourism has not yet adhered to this type of tourism, as most Moroccan families look for spaces to spend their holidays, for rest and entertainment, without planning activities for their trip, to meet the needs of their various members and make the trip a means of discovering the regions they visit and the inhabitants through their environment and cultural heritage.
The objective of this association is to organise trips for the benefit of Moroccan families in coordination with actors in the field of tourism, in particular local tourist associations and companies operating in the regions, and to diversify travel activities based on the discovery of culture and the environment, the organisation of social actions and entertainment activities, and the support of tourism in rural regions, in coordination with local associations and actors in order to highlight the local culture and natural potential of these regions. It also aims to organise trips within and outside Morocco, with the participation of Moroccan, Arab, and foreign families to encourage cultural and tourist exchange, and to organise camps for young girls and children of member families with a social theme, involving these young people in carrying out community actions for disadvantaged tourist host regions. The goal is to implement the concept of citizen tourism.
