In a statement to the press, the USFP president of the Guelmim municipality, Abdelwahab Balfkih, welcomed the climate of cordiality and understanding that exists between him and the various components of civil society, the populations, and the local authorities. A climate that is in the interest of the city's development. These projects are a source of pride for him and for all the city's inhabitants, as they encompass the cultural, sporting, and social fields.
Mr. Balfkih added that his council has attached great importance to urban planning and integration operations. Particularly regarding the improvement of the populations' living conditions, environmental protection, and the realisation of projects for the benefit of the city. He specified that the council's ambition is the creation of economic and social projects with a view to developing social and human indicators, through the creation of major infrastructure including reception centres, sports halls for all disciplines, a multipurpose library, a conference centre, the development of the Amhairich weekly market, as well as the realisation of numerous essential infrastructure and equipment.
The president of the Guelmim municipal council indicated that for the realisation of these ambitions, the council will rely on its own resources and the credibility it enjoys with its various partners. Credibility that the council has acquired thanks to the respect of its commitments. This could not have been done without continuous monitoring by the municipality's services, so as to guarantee the transparency, punctuality, and seriousness required by our partners. Without forgetting the fact that the council spares no effort to mobilise its various partners, including the General Directorate of Local Authorities, the Wilaya of Guelmim-Smara, the Agency for the Economic and Social Development of the Southern Provinces, as well as the various stakeholders for the realisation of development plans. This makes the Guelmim municipality the only one, at the level of the Southern provinces, to be admitted to exercise the missions of delegated project manager for the realisation of important development projects. This proves, indisputably, that the council has honoured all its commitments during its mandate. On the other hand, the council has proven its capacity for transparent management through the application of the participatory approach with the various stakeholders and partners at the level of global development. As a result of the commune's strategy through the application of participatory partnership in the management of development projects, the council has benefited from significant financial envelopes to carry out its projects.
These projects, the young elected official adds, come to concretise the aspirations and expectations of the region's inhabitants. Thus, they will undoubtedly constitute an added value to the development path in which the current council has engaged. This will contribute to boosting the local economy and creating employment opportunities, especially since the city does not have industrial units.
