International colloquium on interpretation

Interpretation will have its colloquium. On 14 and 15 April in Errachidia, researchers and specialists will meet to look into this theme, which is very interesting in these times. Initiated by the research group "Language, Society and Culture", this colloquium aims to focus on the methods and theoretical foundations of interpretation.

The objective of this colloquium is to bring together researchers around this thorny question that is interpretation. On what foundations is it based, and what methods must one adopt to better interpret a text? These are some questions to which the colloquium will try to respond. Several themes will be debated, namely: interpretation and linguistics, interpretation and literature, interpretation and culture, interpretation and philosophy, interpretation and the sacred text, interpretation and the law text, interpretation and the so-called "exact" sciences, and interpretation and the iconic text.

Indeed, it seems difficult to be convinced of the results of interpretation, as is the case, at least relatively, of the so-called "exact" sciences.

The activity of language is exercised in a context where ambiguity, equivocation, and disagreement reign: the premises and conclusions are always controversial, and the adherence of minds to them could be reinforced or contested. Indeed, the equivocal character of the linguistic sign and the complexity of syntactic, cultural, etc., representations do not allow for a complete understanding of the meaning of language statements. Meaning (in interlocution) would be difficult to grasp in certain contexts of enunciation, and several interpretations would therefore be possible.

Several questions arise. What makes sense? Is the expression at the origin of meaning, or does meaning happen to the expression? In other words, is the meaning of a text preconstructed, or would the text only be a simple pretext for a new construction? So many questions that will enrich the debate on interpretation.
