The fifth edition of the Dakhla International Film Festival, organized by the Association for Cultural and Artistic Animation of the Southern Provinces, will take place from 7 to 13 November. The program for this major event will see screenings of films from Lebanon, Spain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Egypt, Oman, Syria, Italy, Tunisia, Palestine, and the USA. An opportunity for cinema professionals and amateurs to meet and discover together new horizons of the 7th art. On the menu also are workshops, forums, and social activities.
This cultural event in Dakhla, now unmissable, plays a leading role in the animation of the city. Several sponsors and official partners also contribute to the success of this major event. And like any self-respecting festival, an official competition will mark that of Dakhla. Indeed, 9 films will compete for one of the three grand prizes: the Dakhla Grand Prize, the best actor prize, and the best actress prize. At the level of the official competition, we can cite the films: "Omar" (Palestine), "Wein" (Lebanon), "Adios Carmen" (Morocco), "Talaa – Nazil" (Lebanon), "Achiraâ wa Alaâssifa" (Syria), or even "Ma kabla arrabiaâ" (Egypt).
The jury will be chaired by Moroccan novelist Mohamed Barrada who will be surrounded by the president of the Al Jazeera Documentary Film Festival, Abbass Arnaout, Tunisian actress Fatma Ben Saïd, Lebanese journalist and critic Jamal Fayad, and director and president of the Omani Cinema Association, Khalid Zedjali.
