First edition of the Sardine Festival in Dakhla

First edition of the Sardine Festival in Dakhla

The Wali of the Oued Eddahab-Lagouira region, accompanied by the Governor of Aousserd, elected officials, and representatives of local civil and military authorities, presided over the opening ceremony of the first edition of the Sardine Festival. This first edition, which takes place from 27 to 31 August under the theme "The sardine of my country, legacy of the ancestors for the grandchildren", is organised in partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries and the National Office of Fisheries. Through this event, which is held simultaneously in Agadir, Al Hoceima, Martil, and Dakhla, the organisers aim to encourage citizens to fish and consume sardines, for which several exhibitions explain the nutritional virtues and the mapping of fishing sites for this fish, of which Morocco is the leading exporter in the world. During the evening, strollers on the Dakhla corniche were able to taste grilled sardines.
