23 people in Dakhla benefited from it

Twenty-three people from the Oued Eddahab-Lagouira region benefited in 2012 from measures concerning their social integration in application of the recommendations of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission relating to the areas of individual reparation for damages.

During the ordinary session of the Regional Human Rights Commission of Dakhla-Aousserd (CRDH) held recently in Dakhla, Mohamed Lamine Semlali, the president of this commission, presented the detailed report on the activities of the Dakhla-Aousserd CRDH during the year 2012. According to him, 13 victims of past violations in this region benefited from medical coverage. And to integrate these victims into the social fabric, seven people benefited from taxi licences, while three others were employed in various sectors.

These insertions fall within the framework of the application of the recommendations of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission, which tasked the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), through its regional commissions, with implementing these recommendations and ensuring, at the regional level, the follow-up of issues regarding individual reparation for damages, medical coverage, and social integration.

According to Mr. Semlali, the three thematic commissions presented the balance sheet of their work as well as their plans, and are working to carry out the CNDH's programmes and projects related to the promotion of human rights, in collaboration with all stakeholders concerned at the regional level. He added that the commission ensures, in accordance with the provisions of Article 28 of the Dahir establishing the CNDH, the monitoring and control of the human rights situation in the region and receives complaints relating to allegations of violations in the region.

Since its opening and throughout last year, this commission has received a relatively significant number of complaints and grievances concerning several issues and problems. This regional commission is composed of several thematic commissions in charge of protection, the promotion of human rights, and the enrichment of thought and dialogue regarding democracy and human rights.
