"Through the opening of Mercure Quemado Al Hoceima, the Accor Group, in partnership with the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG), aims to reshape the attractiveness of destinations in the North of the Kingdom, by marketing a tourist offer based on the potential of the region and on the different customer segments," indicated to MAP, the director of operations for North Africa, Mid-range and Economy Hotels at the Accor group, Thierry Delahaye, on the sidelines of a press trip organised by the CDG in the region to promote its tourist offer and learn about the Group's tourist investments in the region. He also stressed that this tourist complex located on the bay of Al Hoceima integrates harmoniously into its environment through sustainable architecture that respects and enhances the site as well as its tourist surroundings. As for the region's infrastructure, Mr. Delahaye stressed that the latter must be continuously worked on, in particular through the strengthening and development of air routes likely to facilitate visitors' access to the various destinations located in the North of the Kingdom. "The development of infrastructure constitutes an eternal challenge that must always be met," specified Mr. Delahaye, adding that the frequency of air travel in the region constitutes a particularly important axis for increasing the accessibility of tourists to the various tourist destinations located in the North of the Kingdom. The official also pleaded for the diversification of the tourist offer in the region, so as to guarantee products that are as attractive as they are complementary for the benefit of national and international tourists in search of an exemplary seaside resort. "Visitors to Al-Hoceima must be able to enjoy several activities outside the hotel, in particular organising visits to historical monuments, going on cruises, tasting the culinary flavours of the region and practising water sports, and this, to guarantee a complementary and attractive seaside centre," noted the representative of the Hotel Group. Mr. Delahaye expressed the need to strengthen the hotel platform in the region, in particular through competing hotels that could market a tourist offer, by creating a snowball effect in favour of the revitalisation of the sector. He, among other things, stressed that the Group spares no effort to develop its hotel activities in the various corners of the Kingdom, specifying that several projects are under study. He also indicated that the presence, in Morocco, of the Accor hotel network, deserves to be perpetually and continuously readapted, by focusing on a set of criteria required for the realisation of future partnerships. For his part, the director of operations at the Compagnie Générale Immobilière (CGI), a subsidiary of CDG Développement, Othmane Hannaoui, made it known that the CDG, through the Quemado Al Hoceima resort, is pursuing its proactive policy aimed at revitalising the tourist offer in the Northern region, by opening up the city of Al Hoceima which remains less accessible to national and international tourists. Othmane Hannaoui also stressed that this tourist platform follows the pace of the tourist development that the region is experiencing and participates, as a result, in its economic boom. The CGI official also welcomed the Mediterranean Bypass which facilitates the connection between the various localities in the region, by strengthening the tourist attractiveness of destinations in the North while consolidating an important economic and tourist synergy at the regional level. A global group and leader in the hotel industry, the Accor Group aims to confirm its position as leader in Morocco with a fleet of 50 hotels by 2018 against 34 hotels at the end of June 2014. It continues and succeeds in its development thanks to an intelligent product mix between the economy, mid-range, high-end and business and leisure segments.
