The Renault-Nissan factory in Tangier celebrates its 400,000th vehicle produced on its lines

This new milestone marks the important place that the Renault-Nissan factory in Tangier is taking in Morocco and its desire to continue its efforts to become an essential platform in exchanges with the outside world.

The Renault-Nissan factory in Tangier celebrated on Tuesday the production of its 400,000th vehicle on its lines, since the launch of its activity in February 2012.

The 400,000th vehicle to come off the assembly lines of the Renault-Nissan factory in Tangier is none other than the Dacia Lodgy Grand Taxi, intended for a taxi driver in Marrakech, the General Manager of the Renault Morocco group, Jacques Prost, told the press, noting that the production of the Tangier factory, which has a capacity of 340,000 vehicles per year, is progressing, with a projected volume of 225,000 vehicles in 2015, compared to 175,000 in 2014.

"With this ramp-up in production, the Renault factory in Tangier should carve out a choice place among the major Renault factories in the world, including those in Turkey and Romania which currently have fully operational factories," affirmed Mr. Prost.

Regarding quality, the official assured that there is no difference between the production of Moroccan factories and those of the group's other factories worldwide, which constitutes a better indicator of the performance of Moroccan production on the international stage.

As for the short-term strategy of the Renault factory in Tangier, Mr. Prost specified that it consists of further increasing the potential to be able to achieve the production of 225,000 vehicles planned for 2015, and to be able to fully benefit from the European market which is restarting, especially since it represents more than 90% of the group's production, in order to acquire new projects for the future expansion of the group.

The Renault-Nissan factory in Tangier produced a total of 74,925 vehicles by the end of April 2015. Since its inauguration in February 2012, the factory has exported to more than 63 destinations around the world, including France, Spain, and Germany, which is ranked today among the top 3 importing countries of "made in Morocco".

This performance was achieved thanks to the continuous improvement policy led by the factory in its production process and in the management of its teams, explains the official.

Thus, the average production increased to 800 vehicles per day during the year 2015. This new milestone marks the important place that the Renault-Nissan factory in Tangier is taking in Morocco and its desire to continue its efforts to become an essential platform in exchanges with the outside world.

This ceremony took place in the presence of the Governor of the Fahs-Anjra Province, Abdelkhaleq Merzouki, the Director of Manufacturing and Logistics for the Renault group worldwide, José Vicente de Los Mozos, and the General Manager of the Renault-Nissan factory in Tangier, Paul Carvalho.
