Amendis seeks to be reassuring by providing clarifications regarding the change in the taste of the water distributed in Tanger. According to the delegated company for the drinking water, sanitation, and electricity distribution service, this change in the taste of the water has been noticed recently. "Amendis and the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) assure that this change in taste is due to a natural phenomenon, which occurs in dam reservoirs during periods of high heat and when the water reaches very low levels. This is the case in particular for the 9 April dam," indicates a press release issued recently by Amendis. The officials of the delegated company wish to specify that this change in taste has no impact on the quality of the water, which remains perfectly potable and compliant with the standards in force.
"The quality of the water distributed in the city of Tanger, and produced entirely by the ONEE, is checked daily by the Amendis laboratory to ensure its compliance with Moroccan and international standards," according to the same source. Let us note that the delegated company currently ensures the supply of drinking water in the Tanger wilaya from water produced by the ONEE. It distributes a volume of approximately 200,000 m3 per day which comes essentially from the 9 April and Ibn Battouta dams as well as the Charf El Akab aquifer.
It should be recalled that Amendis has been in charge, since 2002, of the delegated management of public liquid sanitation services and the distribution of drinking water and electricity in the wilayas of Tanger and Tétouan.
