Respect and support for the staff and representatives of the suppliers and subcontractors of Amendis and Redal are essential conditions for sustaining commercial relations with the two subsidiaries of Veolia and their respective partners. This is what Bruno Collard, Operational Support Director of Redal and Amendis, stated during a meeting with the press for the presentation of the objectives of the Supplier Social Progress (PSF) approach, launched in 2006. The data provided by Veolia Environnement show that nearly 90% of its purchases are made from Moroccan companies and approximately 11 billion DH in orders and contracts have been committed since 2003. Being therefore a very important ordering party at the national level, the Group initiated the PSF approach aimed at leading the targeted companies and signatories of the purchasing charter into a dynamic of progress on essential requirements such as minimum social coverage, staff training, safety at work and respect for the environment. Considered by its initiators as a positive and non-repressive approach, "this proactive approach aims to raise awareness among suppliers and subcontractors in Morocco to improve themselves and ensure their compliance with international rules in terms of safety, hygiene, health and social protection", explains Mr Collard, noting that this approach also consists of "supporting our institutional clients in their sustainable development policy". In this context, there was the development and dissemination of a purchasing and sustainable development charter and purchasing specifications for the suppliers of Redal and Amendis. Their partners are therefore committed to a policy of social progress, economic growth and environmental protection. This allows the two Veolia subsidiaries "to maintain a relationship of trust, sustainable and healthy with their partners, to pull the sector upwards and to satisfy the final client", stresses Mr Collard. It should be noted that the PSF approach targets, in 2012, some 54 partner companies, which represent more than 70% of the purchases of the Veolia Environnement Group. It is essentially focused, in the same year, on the themes of health and safety at work. This allows the two subsidiaries of the Group, namely Amendis and Redal, to ensure that the supplier respects the fundamental social rights defined in the International Labour Organisation (ILO), fulfils its legal obligations in terms of administrative declarations and social coverage, and raises awareness and trains its employees in risk assessment and is in compliance with the safety standards for people and installations.
