It was to the undulations of the Ahidous dance that the 9th edition of the National Festival of the Aït Warayn opened on Thursday in Aïn Fendal, in the Taza province. With their traditional haiks, the members of the Iârrimen troupe painted a magnificent picture before an audience keen on popular arts. A good-natured atmosphere reigned over the festival site. The small Douar of Aïn Fendal, falling under the commune of Matmata, wore its finest finery. We experienced moments to the rhythm of a real community celebration. The Bab Bouidir caravan, the workshops on the Tifinagh alphabet, as well as the football tournament provided a real opportunity to break the monotony of the small village. The festival also allowed for family and friendly reunions, especially since it has become an annual meeting place for all the natives of the region. Initiated by the Lârrimen Association, this cultural and artistic event aims to preserve heritage by giving young local troupes the opportunity to express themselves, innovate, and present the different facets of the Ahidous dance to the public. Another highlight of this edition is the scheduling of conferences on the history of the region, the role of women in the resistance, as well as the challenges of civil society after the 2011 Constitution. Initiated under the banner "Civil society, a lever for development", this edition will thus allow the region's actors to debate the problems of civil action and opportunities for local development. Artistic evenings were hosted by local and national troupes in the presence of renowned artists.
