Taddart hosts the 3rd Popular Arts Festival

The third Taddert Popular Arts Festival (Guercif province) will be held from 11 to 13 September 2015. Initiated by the Issafn-Guercif association in partnership with the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture and the Agency for the Development of the Northern Prefectures and Provinces, this festival aims to shed light on the popular arts of the region and make them known at a national level, to promote local cultural heritage, to fight against its marginalisation and contribute to its preservation, to energise cultural and artistic life in the rural areas of Taddert, and to work towards encouraging a culture of tolerance, coexistence, and peace, and fighting against violence, extremism, and terrorism. This festival, which benefits from the support of the Guercif province, the regional council, the communes of Guercif and Taddert, the Adrar-Guercif association, and the provincial "Al Ahd Al Jadid" Equestrian Confederation, also aims, according to a press release, to enhance popular cultural and artistic heritage, to encourage popular artists, to develop Amazigh arts, and to create socio-cultural and recreational activities for the benefit of the rural populations of Taddert and the Guercif province.

The programme includes numerous cultural, artistic, and intellectual activities, including an exhibition of works and publications from the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, artisanal products, Amazigh accessories, and old cinema equipment and materials. It also includes two musical evenings featuring popular troupes from Khénifra, Boulemane, Guercif, Taza, and Sefrou, poetry readings with bards Asmaa Belkacemi and Abdellah Ahlal, and debates on "Nuances and affinities of the Ahidouss art in the Ait Ourayne region" with Prof. Mohammed Bouramdane and "Enhancing the local heritage of the Guercif region, a key pillar in territorial development" with Prof. Aymane Falak from the Ibn Zohr University of Agadir.

A screening of the film titled "Treasures of the Atlas" by director Mohammed Abbazi, workshops for learning the Tifinagh alphabet, and ceremonies in honour of popular artists Jilali Charifi, M’Hammed Sbai, and the "Al Nahda" folklore group, as well as Tbourida performances, are also on the programme for this cultural and artistic event.
