Getting on the podium is a place courted by everyone. It is the one that has just been attributed to the Mohammed V Souissi University "UM5S", according to concordant university sources. By organising the largest number of events, a total of 136 in 2011, it came ahead of other national universities, followed by the universities of Marrakech and Agadir. This consecration is the fruit of long labour through a strategy initiated by the presidency of the "UM5S". The objective being to impose a new image of the university by making it more attractive to both students and companies. A double challenge that has every chance of being met in view of the initiatives underway.
Through its development project "Cap Progress 2010-2013", the Mohammed V Souissi University is, in fact, doing everything possible to achieve the objectives it has set for itself. The purpose of the project is to respond to the scientific, economic, social, and technological challenges and problems that the world is experiencing at the beginning of the millennium.
For the year 2011, it succeeded in developing a positive and concrete image reflecting the dynamism of its entire team.
In terms of the events it organised in 2011 (colloquiums, congresses, seminars, forums, study and research days, round tables, open days,…), there are no less than 136 events, including 112 at the national level and 24 at the international level, (79 in human and social sciences and 54 in exact sciences).
The UM5S has thus provided a concrete example of what every public university must do to restore its reputation: satisfy needs in the field of higher education both quantitatively and qualitatively, particularly in terms of initial and continuing training, adopt training more focused on the professional aspect in order to facilitate the insertion of young people into the world of work and, above all, promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among them, associate resource persons and the skills of the university in the field of entrepreneurship, concretise a certain number of human, motivational, strategic, legal knowledge… acquired theoretically and linked to the entrepreneurial approach, stabilise the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among students, etc. A way to fight against unemployment. The organisation of various events and the opening up to the socio-economic environment and the world of work are, in this sense, the best way to sell oneself.
It goes without saying that the flagship event in this framework remains "the Employment Forum which was welcomed with great success during its first (2011) and second edition (2012). These meetings, highly prized and organised by the students themselves, are part of the strategy of proximity to the socio-economic world adopted by the university, which has become aware of the importance of human skills in the service of the progress and prosperity of the Moroccan company. "The two major objectives of this forum are to bring employers closer to graduates or future graduates and to communicate at the same time on the wide range of training provided", Mr. Mrabet had specified to us, himself, in an interview. The university has thus served as a relay between students and companies. A way for the latter to have a real approach to their future employees.
It is still in the same spirit that the "first edition of the entrepreneurship day" was organised by the UM5S just yesterday.
The world of media not being left out, another event was initiated through "the first edition of the 'Media and UM5S Crossroads'". Students were thus able to learn, through round tables and workshops, about the collection, processing, and transmission of information.
So many initiatives, each as important as the others, which, since January 2012, have already reached nearly 70 events. The path is therefore well traced.
