The famous Souk of Benyakhlef, located in the very centre of the commune, generates numerous problems that irritate the inhabitants and expose them to several kinds of risks. The situation is painful for the local residents, before and after the Souk. A situation that must encourage the concerned services to treat as a matter of urgency the problem that disfigures the centre of the commune of Benyakhlef. The transfer of the Souk, mentioned many times, has never been completed. Indeed, the communal council had adopted, during one of its sessions, a resolution for the transfer of the Souk to Aïn Tekki (Hay Al Mohammadi) on land with an area of 13 hectares. Nevertheless, these 13 hectares are part of a land base of 120 hectares mobilised within the framework of the "Cities without slums" programme. The plot of land concerned is not open to urbanisation. The commune is called upon to solve the problem of land unavailability and to appropriate the 13 hectares necessary for the creation of the future Souk and to work, thus, for the opening of the zone concerned by this project to urbanisation.

While waiting for a solution that is slow to emerge, those who reside near the Souk continue to expose themselves to risks of all kinds (pollution in all its forms, noise pollution, hygiene problems, insecurity, etc.). "The development of the commune," stresses this resident, "cannot be done without the will and ambition of all, by favouring a good quality of life. The transfer of the Souk is a priority. The realisation of socio-economic projects in its place would make it possible to safeguard the environment and give more appeal to the centre of Benyakhlef, long marginalised. The concerned services are called upon to enhance the assets of the commune in order to guarantee a better living environment for the inhabitants." Indeed, the commune of Benyakhlef, with its multiple vocations, is unable to enhance its assets. Assets that certainly constitute a fabric for its economic, social, cultural, and sporting development, but structural constraints hinder its growth. The problems that should be solved consist of unsanitary housing, or even the current state of the forest, a heritage that continues to degrade. It is also necessary to mention the delay accumulated in the realisation of the famous project of the interchange located at the level of the Benyakhlef bridge. Another problem, not the least, concerns the state of regional road 313 connecting Mohammedia to Benyakhlef. This axis, which experiences intense road traffic, is confronted with serious problems of traffic fluidity, road safety, and various nuisances. On a good part of this road that leads to the centre of Benyakhlef, potholes, holes in the pavement, signalling failures, etc., constitute the lot of road users. The commune must look into the lack of basic infrastructure and favour the continuous maintenance of vital routes, with more interest in maintenance, without omitting the urgency of moving the Souk in question.
