Organised by the Madinati Association for African Solidarity, in partnership with the Association of Foreign Trainees and Students of Tetouan (ASEET), this event brings together more than 250 participants representing 30 African countries.
According to the organisers, this cultural event aims to strengthen parallel diplomacy and cultural exchanges with African countries, as well as human ties between the participating students.
This event also intends to bring African trainees and students, who are pursuing their studies in the various establishments under the Abdelmalek Essaâdi University, closer to the cultural heritage of the region.
The opening ceremony of this edition, which was enhanced by the presence of the Ambassador of Niger to Morocco, Salissou Ada, and several officials, elected representatives, and cultural and artistic actors, was marked by a plastic art exhibition, concerts, a fashion show, and artistic and heritage workshops, through which the public was transported on a captivating journey to the heart of Africa.
In a statement to MAP, the Nigerien diplomat stressed that this festival confirms the depth of the relations and the solid partnership between Morocco and its African environment, notably with the Republic of Niger.
The Ambassador affirmed that the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Niger have long-standing partnership and cooperation relations, stressing that these relations have been further consolidated under the reign of HM King Mohammed VI.
He recalled that he is taking part in the Festival for the 3rd time, due to his strong conviction of the importance of culture and heritage, noting that countries can, through culture and cultural heritage, highlight their identity and their capacity to coexist.
For his part, the President of the Madinati Association for African Solidarity, Khalid Derouachi, noted that the organisation of this edition is part of the commitment of civil society to implement the High Royal orientations, establishing cooperation with African countries as a strategic choice for the Kingdom, as well as to strengthen Moroccan-African relations.
He made it known that the festival is seeing the participation of about 30 African countries this year, represented by young people and students who are pursuing their studies in higher education establishments in Martil and Tetouan, noting that this edition is an opportunity to discover the cultural and artistic heritage of the participating countries, through a fashion show, an artistic exhibition, a gastronomic fair, and musical and heritage performances, an opportunity to share moments of joy and conviviality.
For his part, the President of ASEET, Sako Yaya, indicated that this event aims to promote African unity, given that the festival is considered a cultural and heritage journey to Africa.
It should be noted that the Madinati Association for African Solidarity organises several socio-cultural activities and events with a rich and varied programme.
