The Forum, as well as the shows and concerts, will unfold to the rhythm of the evocation of the journeys and iconic works of Leo Africanus and Sidi Ahmed Tijjani.
A little over a month separates us from the 21st edition of the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music. This unmissable "spiritual" music event will take place from 22 to 30 May 2015, under the theme: "Fez in the mirror of Africa".
In order to present the detailed programme planned for this 2015 edition, the Esprit de Fès Foundation is organising a press conference on 24 April in Casablanca.
In the meantime, the Foundation informs us that, to celebrate Africa as it should be, the two components of the festival (the Forum, as well as the shows and concerts) will unfold to the rhythm of the evocation of the travels and iconic works of Hassan Al Wazzan, known as Leo Africanus, and Sidi Ahmed Tijjani, founder of the Tijaniyya tariqa, to which a very large number of followers belong, particularly in West Africa.
"The Forum, directed by the philosopher Ali Benmakhlouf, will be hosted by a galaxy of intellectuals, invited to debate, in addition to Fez's relationship with the African continent, the challenges and issues that it, in its great diversity, faces," explains a press release from the Foundation.
Regarding the musical programme, it is designed as an aesthetic transcription of the themes that are the subject of the forum. In this regard, the organisers note that the opening show "Fez, in quest of Africa" will recount, in an allegorical mode, the journeys and lives of Leo Africanus and Sidi Ahmed Tijani.
"This saga, imagined and directed by Alain Weber, will be illustrated by the songs, rhythms, and dances of renowned artists from Morocco, Mali, Mauritania, and Senegal," specifies the Foundation.
Furthermore, several events are on the programme at the various festival sites. In this context, it should be noted that the Bab El Makina square, for example, will host: Saber Rebaï; Africa Spirit; The Temptations; Andalusian Evening; and Hussain Al Jassmi.
