Initiated by the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University of Fès, this cultural and artistic event will see the participation of a dozen foreign countries, particularly Arab and African ones. Several theatrical plays will be presented this year by troupes from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, Côte d'Ivoire, the Central African Republic, Sudan, Palestine, and Qatar. The festival will be crowned by the Grand Prize of Sheikh Abdul Aziz Ben Humaid Al Nuaimi, President of the Ajman Theatre in the United Arab Emirates, and the Prize of the Kuwaiti researcher Fahd Essalim for theatrical directing. The festival programme also includes a series of cultural and artistic activities and a meeting of the executive committee of the Arab Association for the Safeguarding of Theatre, which will be chaired by Morocco, in addition to the meeting of the Arab University Theatre Network. This edition will pay tribute during the opening session to the founder of the International University Theatre Festival of Fès (FITUF), Serghini Farissi, and to the Vice-President of the International Theatre Institute, the artist Ali Mahdi. The closing ceremony will be marked by tributes to the famous Moroccan artists Abdelilah Ajil and Noujoum Azzohra. The FITUF also includes workshops on “Theatre and psychodrama,” “Scenography,” and “Theatrical writing,” in addition to training sessions led by the poet Dalal Mekkari from Germany, the Kuwaiti artist Hani Nessar, and the writer Alae Jabir. The jury for this edition is chaired by the theatre critic Mohamed Behjaji, who will be assisted by the artists Said Ait Baja and Walid El Abdi and the researchers Nawal Ben Brahim and Driss Dehbi. A platform for promoting creativity, citizenship education, and human rights, the FITUF seeks to foster the creation of a platform bringing together dozens of student-actors of various nationalities to weave relations of culture and art.
