Pharmacists in Mohammedia, who are contesting the late opening of pharmacies in the Mansouria commune, have decided to withdraw from night duty.
The residents of the city of Mohammedia are concerned by the decision of the Mohammedia Pharmacists' Union board, which suspended night duty for pharmacies in Mohammedia following an extraordinary general assembly, effective from 6 July. This decision, which coincides with the summer season and holidays, will pose serious problems for people in need of medication, especially at night. Why this decision with such heavy consequences? The president of the Mohammedia Pharmacists' Union, Fassih Hicham, explains. Despite numerous grievances and correspondence sent to the relevant services, no action has been taken regarding our problems. Faced with this situation, the union board held an extraordinary general assembly; the pharmacists met on 13 May 2015 and formulated two demands.
? The promulgation of a prefectural decree in accordance with Law 17/04 on the code of medicine and pharmacy in Mohammedia.
? The effective application of a long-standing prefectural decree for the city of Benslimane, the implementation of which remains at a standstill to this day.
The pharmacists of Mohammedia, who strive to provide citizens with quality services, are forced to withdraw from night duty due to the unregulated opening of pharmacies in the Mansouria commune. This action is more an act of desperation than an act of insubordination, concluded the president of the Mohammedia Pharmacists' Union. We hope, explains a Mohammedia citizen, for the availability of night-time medication for the sick.
