For three days, the participants in this conclave will discuss the major issues and challenges related to the field of art, as the president of the SMPAD, Messaoud Bouhcine, noted from the outset. In a statement to the MAP, Mr. Bouhcine emphasized the need for a restructuring of the artistic sector in a way that promotes its contribution to cultural and economic development while taking into account its specificity.
"The artistic sector is today faced with major challenges concerning, among other things, the absence of clear regulations guaranteeing the rights of professionals," he stated, before adding that his union is working to remedy this deficiency, enhance artistic professions, and promote a sustainable cultural industry.
While insisting on the specificity of art professions, he indicated that his union's approach seeks to involve all actors in the sector in this restructuring, similar to other organized sectors.
This congress will be an opportunity to present for approval the moral and financial reports concerning the outgoing mandate, in addition to discussing the roadmap as well as amending the union's statutes and electing new members to the executive bureau and other structures of the union organization.
