The curtain fell on Sunday evening on the 16th edition of the Bab Boudir Cultural and Tourist Festival, organised from 29 to 31 August at the Bab Boudir summer centre (Taza province), under the theme "Human capital, pillar of development". The closing ceremony of this event, initiated by the Bab Boudir Cultural and Tourist Festival Association, featured a concert hosted by Cheb Mohamed Berkani, Cheb Ilyass El Maghrabi, the Ahidous group of the Atlas, and other local folk troupes, as well as the awarding of prizes to the winners of the various sports competitions (clay pigeon shooting, pétanque, and football), organised on the sidelines of the festival.
In a statement to MAP, the president of the festival, Abdellatif Bargach, indicated that this edition made it possible to highlight the natural, cultural, and tourist potential that the Taza province possesses, with the aim of boosting economic activity in the region while placing the enhancement of human resources at the heart of regional development programmes and plans.
He estimated between 8,000 and 10,000 the number of visitors who attended the various activities of this edition daily, specifying that this large turnout illustrates the great success of the festival, which constituted an opportunity to celebrate the cultural heritage of the Taza province, and to open up to the specificities of the different provinces of the Kingdom.
On the programme of this festival were artistic evenings hosted by Moroccan artists and local and national folk troupes, notably Rhiyata, Béni Warayne, and Ahidous of the Atlas and Guercif, Tbourida exhibitions, as well as sports competitions including clay pigeon shooting, pétanque, swimming, martial arts, and chess tournaments.
