First of all, I would like to remind you that the 3rd Tislit Ain Cheggag Festival is organised in the rural commune of Ain Cheggag, falling under the Sefrou province, by the associative fabric represented by the Asdae Ain Cheggag Association, the initiator of this event, thanks to the great support of provincial and local authorities, as well as several partners. I cite, among others, the communal council of Ain Cheggag, the regional council of Fes-Boulemane, the provincial council of Sefrou, the Ministry of Culture, the IRCAM, the regional chamber of agriculture of Fes-Boulemane, and the provincial directorate of agriculture of Sefrou. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their moral and material support aimed at the success of this annual event. My thanks also go to our partner and co-organiser, the Sefrou Event association, as well as to local economic actors and the associative fabric of Ain Cheggag, not forgetting the owners of the agricultural lands used by the Tislit Festival, who contribute effectively to the success of the Festival.
The particularities of the Tislit Ain Cheggag Festival lie in its objective, which aims to promote the ancestral cultural heritage of this commune through the diversity of axes programmed each year, namely Tislit (the Amazigh collective wedding ceremony), fantasia, Ahidous art, poetry, sports competitions, round tables, etc.
I can say that a very rich programme, good shows, a warm welcome, and the hospitality of the Ait Ayach will be reserved for the public of the Tislit Ain Cheggag Festival.
There is, first of all, Tislit, during which we will organise a traditional Amazigh collective wedding ceremony for the benefit of underprivileged couples. Fantasia, which is the headliner of the festival, will see the participation of more than 20 sorba representing the different regions of Morocco. Furthermore, Ahidous art will be represented by a dozen local troupes who will enchant fans of this ancestral art. Poetry also has a place of choice in the festival's programming with nearly thirty sessions of Amazigh poetry reading (Inchaden). Sports competitions, round tables that will debate the history of the Ait Ayach, Amazigh culture, and local development perspectives. An exhibition of agricultural products and local handicrafts is also scheduled.
The added value brought by the Tislit Ain Cheggag Festival is based on the theme of the 2012 edition, which is "Cultural heritage, a lever for local development." Whatever its size, the festival remains a meeting place. A cultural event highlighting traditions and allowing the possibility of knowing one's cultural heritage to a wide public and being able to exchange with them, to forge links with other people present (authors, artists, actors, etc.). The commercial and economic dynamic is also one of the added values that our festival brings to the commune of Ain Cheggag through the number of spectators estimated at 160,000 who will be drawn by this occasion.
What are your sources of funding for the organisation of this festival?I can say that our financial resources are very limited. That said, the festival's budget, estimated at 600,000 dirhams, will not allow us to cover the programme. Indeed, the absence of sponsors means that the financial support we have is based solely on a few subsidies from our partners. If we want to achieve our objectives and perpetuate this event so that it becomes an unmissable annual appointment, we will need sponsors in the future.
How do you see the evolution and future of this festival?I am sure that the future of the Tislit Ain Cheggag Festival is promising, despite certain difficulties linked to the infrastructure, which must now be adapted to an event of such size as the Tislit Ain Cheggag Festival. However, the good intentions of the officials and the determination of the Asdae Ain Cheggag Association can ensure the sustainability of this event.
What are the other missions of the Asdae Ain Cheggag association, the initiator of this festival? The other missions of the Asdae Ain Cheggag association can be summarised as follows: the promotion of cultural heritage, the contribution to the promotion of activities related to environmental protection, support for social actions aimed at the schooling of rural girls, the improvement of the health conditions of rural children and women, the promotion of the horse, as well as several missions of a cultural and social nature.
