Tiznit at the time of the 7th Timizart Festival

Tiznit at the time of the 7th Timizart Festival

The 7th edition of the Timizart festival, the most attractive event organised by the city of Tiznit, has been in full swing since 28 July, giving the silver capital a festive air.

Until 1 August, artisans, specialists, merchants, and producers mingle with visitors eager to discover the growing dimension that this precious metal is taking for the city in particular and for the Souss-Massa region in general.

The concern of the organisers being to internationalise this artistic and cultural event, the economic side is also highlighted. All these factors combined allow the city to open up significantly to mass tourism, which was palpable from the first day marked by a human tide that came to savour this festival full of delights at its true value.

A colossal triumph has clearly been established thanks, in particular, to the rich and varied programme making this edition a gateway to the promotion of the region and the city by valorising silver products as well as the hardened and meritorious artisans, who distinguish themselves by their remarkable skill and their obvious dexterity.

The programme for this edition, organised under the theme "Silver Goldsmithing: identity, creativity, and development", includes academic symposiums elucidating the features of silverware and Makhzen documents in the 19th century, fashion shows for traditional clothing and jewellery, and artistic evenings hosted by a panoply of local and national artists.

Furthermore, and like previous editions, the idea was to build a gigantic door by putting a multitude of artisans to work, deploying 5 kg of silver. The choice of the "Door" is not at all random since the city is fully known for its walls and historical gates.

Let us recall that it is to the Timizart Silver Association that the merit of organising this important artistic event goes, in collaboration with the Chamber of Crafts, the municipality, the provincial council of Tiznit, and the House of the Artisan.
