The 6th edition of the Almond Blossom Festival in Tafraout, an economic, cultural, and artistic event, will be held from 4 to 6 March, we learn from the organisers. Organised during the almond tree flowering season (February-March), this festival, which revives an ancestral tradition, sets as its objectives the development of the almond sector, the promotion of the Anti-Atlas heritage, and the improvement of the socio-economic conditions of the local populations, indicates a press release from the Louz Tafraout Association, the originator of this event.
This festival also constitutes an opportunity for the local populations and visitors to Tafraout to experience festive moments to the rhythms of local and national traditional music. The local produce fair organised during each edition of the festival is also an opportunity for cooperatives to promote their products and showcase their know-how, it is added. The 2016 edition programme also includes workshops, cultural, sporting, and social activities, and artistic evenings. The success of the last five editions constitutes a motivation for the Louz association and its partners to perpetuate the organisation of this event, while innovating in its programming and enriching its activities. Thus, several projects have been launched on the sidelines of previous editions, including the development and equipment of almond and olive plantation perimeters, the development of rural tracks, as well as several other socio-economic development projects.
