Child deaths trigger warnings about the rapid spread of "Bouhamroun" in Morocco

Child deaths trigger warnings about the rapid spread of "Bouhamroun" in Morocco

It seems that measles (Bouhamroun) has become a real danger lurking for children in the North, after the steady increase in the number of infections in the last three months, while data obtained by the Hespress electronic newspaper from reliable sources revealed that the death recorded in the city of Tetouan the day before yesterday, Tuesday, is not the first in the region.

According to the same data, the deaths recorded by the provinces of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region reached at least 8 cases, including 5 deaths recorded by the Mohammed VI University Hospital in the city of Tangier, all of whom belong to the Tangier province, while the Chefchaouen province recorded two deaths, in addition to a single case in Tetouan.

According to the data collected by Hespress through communication with sources from within the regional health directorates at the regional level, and the Mohammed VI University Hospital, who preferred not to reveal their identities, the latter received 448 cases of "Bouhamroun" infection during the current year, which required receiving treatment at the facility, which confirms that their condition was "difficult".

According to the same sources, the last three months recorded a steady increase in the number of infections that arrived at the university hospital in the regional capital, as it reached 115 cases in October, 113 in November, while it reached 104 in this current December so far, with the indication that the number is likely to rise further in the coming days.

The same data also indicated that the sprawling Chefchaouen province recorded a large number of "Bouhamroun" infections among children, estimated by a knowledgeable source at "hundreds", confirming that the awareness and sensitisation process is underway to urge families to vaccinate unvaccinated children against the deadly epidemic.

As for the provinces of Larache, Ouezzane, and M'diq-Fnideq, the newspaper's sources indicated that they did not record any deaths, but they, like the rest of the provinces at the regional level and the whole country, are experiencing "Bouhamroun" infections, against which the ministry launched a wide re-vaccination campaign months ago.

Medical sources spoken to by Hespress called on families to ensure that their children who are no more than 18 years old receive the vaccination against the infectious measles disease, with the prescribed dose sufficient to avoid any complications or difficult infections due to the epidemiological situation the country is experiencing.

The same professional sources noted that after the last holiday, all public hospitals recorded an increase in the number of cases and infections arriving at them, due to the movement recorded in the country, warning that the epidemic spreads rapidly among children, and its degree of transmission exceeds "Corona".

The same sources stressed the importance of accelerating to rectify the delay, correct the situation, and make up for the loss of citizens' confidence in vaccination and the disregard for its importance, warning that this matter, which happened during the vaccination period against "Covid-19", was a main reason for reaching this stage of the spread of "Bouhamroun" in Morocco.
